Department Notes: Computational Photography is an emerging new field created by the convergence of computer vision, computer graphics, and photography. Its role is to overcome the limitations of the traditional camera by using computational techniques to produce a richer, more vivid, perhaps more perceptually meaningful representations of our visual world.
Empirical Observations. After testing quite a few images (in addition to the ones displayed above), I found out that in order to get a pretty good hybrid image, the second image (used to obtain the high frequency portion) needs to have a decent number of edges near the area of interest to balance versus the amount of visual features found in second image near that same area.
